How do you brighten up scratched stainless steel?

We have all admired the beauty of a new stainless steel sink. With time it does avoid taking on stains, but it tends to get dull and scratched up. It is really difficult trying to get it back to the manufactured buffed surface we there are several things you can do to brighten it up.

Most Stainless Steel cleaners are just cleaners, they will not take out scratches. But if you get metal polishing compounds and use a buffing wheel on an electric drill, you can bring back quite a shine, although not eliminate all the scratches. You will need a fast drill, not a cordless drill.
