Weather Restrictions: Crystalline growth waterproofing products

Connect to your favourite weather forecaster and look for the following conditions:

Category: Concrete     Product: Crystalline growth waterproofing products

Temperature Limitations: Use above +2 C (+35 F)  and below +21 C (+70 F)

Rain Limitations: No rain until material is firm -- about 2 hours

Wind Limitations:  n/a

Humidity Limitations: If dry, must keep product moist

Continuous Conditions: 48 hours no freeze and constant moisture

Comments: Crystalline growth coatings create a chemical reaction inside the concrete to which it is applied, making the concrete itself, not just the coating waterproof.  They do not waterproof un-sealed cracks.  The most common of these products is Xypex.  As with most masonry type products Crystalline growth waterproofing products must not freeze and must be kept moist to cure.  When temperatures are above +21 C (+70 F), extra misting will be required to keep the product from drying during the two day cure.  The crystalline growth can continue for years, whenever moisture is present in the concrete.

Weather limitations on most renovation products can be located on the WEATHER tab above.
