What homeowners say about working with Jon Eakes.

Two unsuccessful service visits later...

I asked Jon a question by email and sent pictures about my furnace not turning on.  He pointed out something he saw (almost by accident) in the corner of one picture and that turned out to be the problem!  Solved!

Sump Pump configuration

Thank you for your quick and detailed reply – much appreciated!

Years ago you provided me with some advice regarding a kitchen vent. I had put some steel wool to keep critters out and ended up with small filings on the stove.

You pointed out the error of my ways (much to the delight of my wife). And, yes… Thank you! The clarity was worth it.

We live in Beaconsfield (sorry for not mentioning this). I believe the house was built in 1966. Not sure what the laws were like back then. I will certainly contact you for a consultation if the situation changes.

The Bucket List

“Having a Zoom call with Jon was so easy and efficient. I prepared a list of questions regarding various issues in my house. I was then able to walk around and show him in realtime each one and he was able to answer all of them in great detail. I didn’t need to take any notes regarding his answers because he later provided me with a copy of the video that I was able to download to my PC for later viewing! ”

Island vent loops

Thanks Jon for your very clear and educational description of how a island Loop vent works. I am an engineer and I couldn’t figure this thing out. But you’re “what if” scenarios prior to the loop description made it very clear. Now I consider myself educated regarding island loops thanks to you taking your time to educate the ignorant engineers.

General support

Even though I am not handy, I always listen to your show. I learn so much of what products to use and how to avoid problems and I always seem to have take-away notes. Your  information is always so right on and the way you explain how to do - or not do - things makes it all sound so doable. You have not only been ahead on mechanical info but ahead of the curve on the electronic and social media world as well.

You are not afraid to learn something new and to use it all to help and guide us.

We have been so lucky to have your encyclopedic knowledge for so long.

Quick support

I am certain that you have a whole host of enquiries every day, all taking much effort on your part, in order to respond appropriately and effectively to each.

This short note is not one of these requests.

I wanted to tell you how much I appreciated your prompt and detailed reply to my question. I recognize that both your time and expertise are valuable, and I wanted to confirm to you that they are also highly valued.

I wish you a good week and hopefully, a reflective reassurance that what you do, does make a difference.

I just wanted to say, (as someone who does not yet have a smartphone), how impressed I am that someone of my own age, like you, has managed to so successfully and usefully embrace all this new technology. As the kids say, Jon, you and your site both rock!   I'll never be a master handywoman, Jon but I have learned a lot from you and your site (and previously your TV program).

Basement wall in Colorado

THANK YOU! Awesome Site!

Hi Jon! Many thanks for sharing your knowledge. My wife has been asking me to cover up an ugly concrete basement wall, and your site has helped me understand how to attempt this in an informed manner. All the best,

Kosta (near Denver, Colorado).

Radial Arm Saw Book

Now, off I go to read your book and fine-tune my radial arm saw.

By the way, I was browsing your website and watching some of your videos.  I can tell you have been doing this a long time.  Your work shows excellent production quality, well thought-out examples, and everything is to the point and very informative.  Outstanding work over what appears to me to be many decades of work.  Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Saw videos

Wanted to say thanks for all the knowledge you have passed on for many years. I cannot recall the first time I listened to you on the radio, would it be correct to say 20+ years ago? In any case, thank you!
