When I claim that a table saw can accomplish the task of "jointing" wood -- making the edge of a piece flat, straight and square -- some purists cry foul. 

But the reality is that using a shaping head with flat blades does in fact create the same kind of machine as a jointer -- you just need to create the split table with another simple jig.

anytime you can view a how to video, it increases your overall knowlege on skills and safety. even if it only how to sharpen a pencil
